Semester 1

ADID211P – Design Application & Methodology / Mini Technical Workshop (39 Hours)
In the mini-technical workshop, student will hands-on with manual work tools to gain technical workshop experiences for the various methods used to install interior fitting/fixture and the technical knowledge on woodworking, metal work, plastic, glass, man-made materials etc.  Safety precaution for using power tools will also be taught and all students will require to produce a piece of mini handy work as part of the workshop assignment project at the end.

ADID212T – Design Studio – Commercial, Hospitality, Exhibition (39 Hours)
Creative exploration in this design studio session will be maximized by the help of practicing interior designer lecturer who impart their actual work experience in the class room.  The most important if not the bigger area involve in the interior renovation project are furniture & Carpentry work, therefore student will learn here the furniture design & detailing and the effective space planning to optimize the limited floor space.  Conceptual ideas and design solutions, visual presentation include multi-points perspective drawing and rendering, model making, research project etc will be taught.  Visit to current show-flat and project site will also be included.

ADID212T – Lighting Principles & Technology (39 Hours)
Teaching on various types of lighting used for interior design, eg. day light, warm light, artificial light, mood light and effect light and the various outdoor lighting etc.  The various methods used for highlighting artifacts, imagery. graphics, art pieces etc using the appropriate light fitting and how to  enhance interior environment with good lighting ambience.  Knowledge of Crystal and its property and application.  Occasionally, guest speaker/lecturer from lighting industry may give lession and update of the latest light fitting available and the newest light technology used.  Student will also have a chance to design and make a miniature light fitting as part of the project assignment work.

ADID212P – Building Services (39 Hours)
All building science include M&E (mechanical & electrical), Plumbing, Fire sprinkler/Alarm & fire protection systems, Building automation, Acoustics & Climate control etc will be taught.  Building control requirements and basic submission criteria etc will also include in this study.  Various layering methods for layout plan or reflected plan is one of the exercise subject and also outdoor research project.

Semester 2

ADID221P - QC & QS (Quality Control & Quantity Survey) (39 Hours)
In this subject, student will get familiar with the manufacturing sizes of various materials that sell in the industry for interior design work.  Basic calculation and costing for project work. Schedule planning.  Quality control, defects check-lists.  Field-trip to manufacturing warehouse, carpentry workshop, metal-work workshop, plastic workshop etc.  Student will submit a Quotation based on one of their selected studio project work as the final assignment.

221T Building & Interior Construction- Finishes -Part 2  (39 Hours)
Study of the characteristics and properties of the various finishes used for interior design project include both indoor and outdoor usage.  Aesthetics and practical, which one come first? What would be the technical solution without compromise the design? For these,student will be taught how to mix & match materials, patterns, colours and textures;  Co-ordinate building materials & components and finishes in order to design and present their ideas professionally.  Maintenance and repair knowledge and research project of the latest imported material available in the industry.  Student will be given special assignment project to used recycle materials to create object that used for interior fitting/fixture as a sustainable design work to saved th
e earth.

ADID222P CAD – Advance level (39 Hours)
Advance computer drafting on Autocad and 3D Studio max and also other interior design 3D rendering software like Sketch-up etc.  The knowledge gained in this subject may serve as stepping stone for job opportunity  in the interior or architectural or animation industry.

ADID222T Professional Practices & Communication skills  (39 Hours)
At the end of this subject, student shall posses a good interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with future client and members of the project team.  Class room presentations will be the norm and occasionally video clip on communication may be shown in the class.  Final project for student will be a short solo design project presentation recorded in video.
